My best tip: Use smaller dishes, it makes your portions look bigger.

I've lost around 30+ pounds doing south beach. I'm also part of an online group of ladies who are all losing weight. That's great becausue we support and encourage one another.
In case you want to check it out or read more about south beach you can find me and the girls here

I don't go to the WW meetings, but I know enough people who go and have adopted the basic idea. I've been doing it for about a month and have lost 10 pounds. I also quit smoking! So, here is the best part...I feel absolutely wonderful! I am healthier, I have more energy, little things that used to stress me out I consider ridiculous now! The results of feeling better came faster than shedding pounds; however, the better you feel is enough motivation to keep making the better choices in the way I eat and exercise. Sort of like a chain reaction. Wait until you start - you'll wonder why on earth you didn't do it sooner. I also starting Tae Kwon Do with my son twice a week and walk/run on the treadmill at home the other days. I use part of my lunch hour to stretch and do easy toning exercises...which leads to more energy in the afternoon. The endorphins have kicked in and I feel great! After that preamble, I guess my advise is to set a goal and commit for a week. At the end of that week you will feel so much better that you won't want to stop! A long time ago, I read something that said "Do you live to eat or eat to live?" I had the ability (and sometimes the desire) to eat like a horse - I didn't want to be that person any more. You can do it!

Try www.sparkpeople.com It's a great website, it's free, and if you are looking for support, exercise ideas, or diet advice - this site has it all. I have lost 40 lbs (and am working to lose more) using this site.

Good Luck!

I do go to Weight Watchers and I love it. Really. I find the meetings are very inspirational, and I always come away with an idea that will work for me in the upcoming week. With the holidays coming....I need guidance. Big guidance. Last year, before I started WW, I gained 12 pounds between Halloween and New Year's. AACK! Not this year!

my best tips would be to cut down on the bread/tortilla eating, don't eat late at night and drink plenty of water.

When I'm home I try to drink water all the time. I even cut out diet drinks. Also having grown up on a farm, I ate a lot of fresh fruit & veggies when I was younger. I've noticed the more I cut out processed food from my diet and integrate fresher foods into it, the more I notice the pounds start coming off. I don't deprive myself from stuff I happen to adore like Pizza, ice cream, chocolate...I just eat smaller portions, enough to satisfy my craving and not feel guilty. Also I think slowing down when you eat helps when you're trying to lose weight. Matt scarfs everything down and then he feels too full, while I'm still working on my plate. Eating slower gives me a chance to taste and savor my food (because I really am a foodie) and it also gives me a chance to get in tune with what my body is telling me, you know, how full I really am.

I've lost around 15 pounds since last spring and I think Matt's lost some weight too. Although I am not sure how much.
