Soapy

Well, the doctor is officially flummoxed. The Chem 7 came back completely normal (hahah - I'm completely normal, and now I have proof) so his nurse left a message saying, "Um, yeah, if you want to make an appointment you can, but we have no idea. The doctor is interested in knowing if you figure anything out... definitely have the water company test your water."

I had told them that I'd called the water company and strongly suggested that someone needs to come out and take samples of our water and make sure it's not killing me. They asked me if my neighbors had noticed anything. As if anyone talks to their neighbors anymore! I told them, and I quote, "Well, my neighbors read my blog, and no one has said anything." I'll bet that's the first time they've heard that.

Neighbors? Are you soapy?

The water company has about 24 hours before I start getting irritating. The customer service rep referred my complaint to the water quality people and is having them call me. Like I have time to sit around, tasting soapy, waiting for them to call. I don't think so. I know where their office is - it's not at all far from here. I may just show up and threaten to French kiss people (so they can taste the soap too - get your minds out of the gutters!) until my water gets tested.

BJ probably won't love that plan.

In other news, my whites have never been whiter!

I'm trying this new thing called Zemanta that helps you "enrich" your blog content with helpful pictures and links to articles about what you're writing about. Many of the suggested pictures don't make much sense. The one of the French kiss is particularly unhelpful.

I'll bet you a buck they bumped noses and that's why he's smiling.

I'm also getting a lot of pictures of dead animals washed up on beaches. Scary that dead animals are triggered by key words like "water quality." What does that say about our confidence in our environment?

Nothing good, that's for sure.

I'm not sure why this picture of Water Street in Chicago is showing up, but it's a cool picture:

Perhaps Zemanta thinks that the reason my mouth tastes soapy is because I drink cheap beer?

Oh internet, is there any problem you can't solve?

That looks like a fun tool! Though my post today was about my son's testicles. I don't think I'd want to see those pictures.

I hate the new "re-blog this paragraph" feature. Lose it. If I want to reblog it. I'll cntrl-c, cntrl-v it...

Sorry about the soap issue. All I can say is maybe you need to move into the house across the street. We have very tasty, softened well water. :)

Soapy taste: I don't know how hard your water is, but we have very hard water (alkaline soil, too) and soaps don't always work as they should. Sooo... a couple times, we've switched dishwasher soap (we use powder) to a kind without phosphates at all, and it won't dissolve as well, and if we don't use just the right amount, it builds up on the dishes and then everything we eat from the dishes (and drink from the glasses) tastes soapy/salty. We switched, back to our regular soap, the white deposits went away, and the taste went away. Hope this helps, but I know you probably have a completely different problem. :)

I agree that the paragraph re-blog feature is annoying.

Morganna - got any non-phosphate dishwasher soap recommendations? If I have time today I'll hit the store.

We're currently using Finish Gelpacks (Electrosol brand) and they do, in fact, contain phosphates. You may be on to something!

Hi
Maybe it could be your dishwasher soap not washing off. Possibly use 1/2 the normal amount in dshwsr. You do have a new washer and maybe it's more efficient. I use 1/2 normal amount since my H2O is soft.
Are you on different Meds? Or now that you are off certain meds, maybe your body is absorbing more of the meds you are on?
Dr R (FL) is on vacation this week but I can ask him what he suggests.
Since he's an MD/ Holistic doc
in Womens' Health, he might have some suggestions.

Geez Amy, I thought I had weird issues, you know, like my eye exploding and stuff, but a soapy taste....ewwww. Hope you figure out what's causing it.

Seventh Generation has a great line of home cleaners, and they are mainstream enough that many regular, non-natural stores also carry it. And Drugstore.com carries it. I like their dishwasher soap -- they have liquid, powder and gel packs I think. They also have lots of other household things that are nicer to you and the kids and the environment...I think it just makes sense to change over to natural cleaners entirely, since the leading cause of poisoning of children under 5 is household cleaners. Just FYI! :)

I'm not sure if your soap issue or my non stop itching is worse. lol
